Open the Windows Device Manager.
Are there any ? marks or ! points? If so what do they say?
If they display Unknown Device then your adapter is not properly installed.
If there are no ? marks or ! points, open Ports and see what ports you have listed.
Open the port provided by the USB to Serial adapter and go to the Port Settings tab.
On the Port Settings tab, your settings should be:
- Bits Per Second = 9600
- Data Bits = 8
- Parity = None
- Stop Bits = 1
- Flow Control = None
Click OK to close the window
Close Device Manager.
